How to Sign In to Medicaid: Find Your State Medicaid Portal

Updated October 5, 2026

Reviewed October 5, 2026. There’s no single national website where you sign in to Medicaid. Medicaid is run by each state, so you sign in through your state’s Medicaid or benefits portal, such as BenefitsCal in California, YourTexasBenefits in Texas or MyACCESS in Florida. If you don’t know your state’s portal, Medicaid.gov keeps an official directory that links to every state Medicaid agency.

Quick answer: Go to Medicaid.gov’s “Where can people get help” page, choose your state, and use the official portal link listed there. Your state portal is where you apply, renew, report changes and check your case. If you’re in a Medicaid managed care plan, your health plan also has its own member portal for ID cards, doctors and benefits.

Why there’s no single Medicaid login

Medicaid is a joint federal and state program, but each state runs its own eligibility system, enrollment process and online account. Medicaid.gov tells people that they must contact their state Medicaid agency for applications, eligibility decisions, card replacements and claims questions. That’s why a Medicaid account in one state won’t work in another, and why the portal name changes from state to state.

Many states combine Medicaid with SNAP food assistance and cash aid in one benefits portal, so the site you sign in to may not have “Medicaid” in its name.

Portal names and web addresses can change. Always confirm your state’s current portal through the Medicaid.gov state directory or your state agency’s .gov website before entering personal information. Georgia’s DFCS, for example, directs applicants to Georgia Gateway and lists its customer contact center at (877) 423-4746 (Georgia DFCS).

How to sign in to your Medicaid account

  1. Find your state’s official portal using the table above or the Medicaid.gov directory. Check that the address ends in .gov or matches the official site your state agency links to.
  2. Create an account if you don’t have one. Most portals ask for your name, date of birth, email address and a password, and some use identity verification questions.
  3. Link your case. If you applied by phone, mail or in person, you may need your case number, client ID or Medicaid ID number to connect your existing case to your new online account.
  4. Sign in with your username and password, and complete any two-step verification code sent to your phone or email.
  5. Use your dashboard to check your application status, see renewal dates, upload documents, report changes and read notices.

What you can do in a state Medicaid portal

State portal vs. your health plan’s member portal

Most people on Medicaid are enrolled in a managed care plan run by a private insurer, such as Aetna Better Health, AmeriHealth Caritas, Molina or UnitedHealthcare Community Plan. That gives you two separate online accounts:

TaskWhere to sign in
Apply, renew, report income or address changesYour state Medicaid portal
Check whether you’re still eligibleYour state Medicaid portal
Print a plan ID card, find a doctor, see covered benefitsYour health plan’s member portal or app
Use OTC or rewards benefits your plan offersYour health plan’s member portal or app
Change to a different Medicaid health planYour state’s enrollment broker or Medicaid portal (rules vary by state)

For example, Virginia members change plans through the state process described in our guide to changing your Medicaid plan in Virginia.

Is there a Medicaid app?

There’s no single federal Medicaid app. Some states offer a mobile app or a mobile-friendly version of their benefits portal, and most managed care plans have their own member apps. Download apps only from the link on your state agency’s or health plan’s official website, so you don’t end up on a look-alike app that collects your personal information.

Watch out for fake Medicaid login sites

Search results sometimes show look-alike websites with addresses that are one letter off from the real portal. Applying for Medicaid is free. Be cautious of any site that charges a fee to apply, asks for payment card details to “activate” benefits, or isn’t linked from your state agency’s .gov site. Never share your password or verification codes with anyone who calls you.

If you also have Medicare

People with both Medicare and Medicaid have separate accounts: a Medicare.gov account for Medicare and a state account for Medicaid. Your state Medicaid office also handles Medicare Savings Programs, which can pay your Part B premium. See Medicare Savings Programs income limits and Extra Help for drug costs. Social Security benefits have their own login, covered in our my Social Security account guide.
