Aetna Medigap Plan G with Silverscript

Aetna Medigap Plan G with a Silverscript Part D Plan

Aetna is one of many Medicare companies offering a Medigap plan. Medicare plan G is not the only one offered by Aetna but will be the focus of today’s blog. Plan G contains almost the same benefits that Plan F has but also has a high-deductible plan that is offered in many states, including Florida and Pennsylvania. This plan covers all the Medicare gaps with one exception, the Part B deductible. When applying for any Medicare company, you are recommended to be age 65 or on disability for 2 years and then Medicare. Select states do allow those under 65 to apply for Medicare only if they have a disability or ESRD, which is end-stage renal disease.

What is SilverScript Part D Plan

SilverScript is the name for an Aetna Part D plan. If you or someone in your family is always making trips to the hospital for checkups and prescribed medication, this plan is worth looking into. The Part D plan is one of many plans Aetna has to offer to anyone over the age of 65 and getting into Medicare for the first time.

If you are disabled and enrolling in Medicare, this is also a fantastic option for the Medicare part d plan. This plan, however, covers many prescription drugs as well. Aetna owns SilverScript, but CVS owns the company itself. This means that any CVS you go to pick up medication Aetna will be accepted there. As for other pharmacies, be sure to call ahead and check if Aetna and SilverScript are taken. Talk to a Medicare supplement agent if there are any questions concerning which is the best part of d prescription plan to be on whether it is Cigna, AARP, or express scripts.

Why I recommend Atena

My family is currently using Aetna. I will say that it\’s a good company as far as I know. Our pharmacy is CVS, so we know that the insurance will always be taken. Since I have been taking recent trips to the hospital for checkups on my arm after surgery, the out-of-pocket costs aren’t too bad. I paid $40 out of pocket for my co-pay for a prescription drug. My father is on medications that deal with high blood pressure like Lisinopril, Metoprolol, Amlodipine, and gout meds like Allopurinol, so he’s constantly getting refills. These are all covered by Aetna’s SilverScript drug plan, so his out-of-pocket costs are minimal.

Conclusion

Take advantage of the medicare open enrollment 2022 before the AEP.  Medicare advantage plans have an MAPD plan where the prescriptions are attached so the open enrollment period of 2022 will not be as important as if you were on a Medigap plan. If you have problems understanding the donut hole in 2022, contact a Medicare supplemental agent who can help.
