Kaiser OTC and Healthy Food Card 2027: Login, Balance and Where to Use It

Updated November 3, 2026
Fresh salad and vegetables that may be eligible with a Kaiser healthy food benefit

Updated November 3, 2026. To log in to your Kaiser OTC or healthy food balance, go to mybenefitscenter.com with your 19-digit Healthy Extras card number, or call 1-833-524-7035 (TTY: 711). To get a Kaiser healthy food card, you need to be in a Kaiser Permanente Medicare plan that includes a healthy food benefit and meet its chronic-condition rules. Kaiser then loads the food allowance onto the same prepaid Healthy Extras card that holds your over-the-counter (OTC) allowance, mailed to your address on file. You activate it at mybenefitscenter.com or by phone and can shop in store or online.

Quick answer: The healthy food benefit is a Special Supplemental Benefit for the Chronically Ill (SSBCI), and Kaiser says “Eligibility for this benefit cannot be guaranteed based solely on your condition.” For 2027 it’s offered in some Georgia plans, some Southern California Dual Complete plans and the Maryland Dual Complete plan, among others. Not every Kaiser region offers it; our checks of 2027 plan documents for Hawaii, the Northwest and Washington found no OTC or food benefit.

Kaiser Permanente Senior Advantage Member Services (Georgia) phone number: 1-800-232-4404. For Healthy Extras card balance, activation or lost cards, call 1-833-524-7035 (TTY: 711). Members in other regions should call the number on their ID card.

How to get the Kaiser healthy food card

  1. Join a Kaiser plan with a healthy food benefit. Check the “Healthy food” or “Over-the-counter” rows of the plan’s 2027 Summary of Benefits. You can change plans during Medicare Open Enrollment, October 15 to December 7, 2026, for coverage starting January 1, 2027.
  2. Meet the chronic-condition criteria. In the Mid-Atlantic region, Kaiser’s 2026 extras page listed conditions such as diabetes, chronic lung disorders, cardiovascular disorders, chronic heart failure and cancer. From 2027, CMS requires plans to publicly post their SSBCI eligibility criteria.
  3. Watch your mail. Kaiser mails one Healthy Extras card for both benefits, in a white envelope with a blue Kaiser Permanente return address and an activation sticker.
  4. Activate it. Go to mybenefitscenter.com or call the number on the card, then enter your 19-digit card number and your birthdate (MMDDYYYY). Benefits can take 1 to 2 days to load.

How to get the Kaiser healthy food card online

You can’t sign up for the food benefit online on its own; it comes with your plan. Once your card arrives, you can activate it, check your balance and shop online through My Benefits Center. Kaiser’s 2026 member video says OTC items are ordered online only through CVS Health, and Healthy Food members may also see fresh foods on Walmart.com where available (Kaiser Permanente video transcript).

Virginia plans list quarterly OTC allowances of $25 to $40 for 2027. Georgia cards reload on January 1, April 1, July 1 and October 1.

Does the Kaiser balance roll over?

No. Kaiser’s card FAQ describes the benefit as “use it or lose it,” so unused money doesn’t carry into the next period (Kaiser healthy food card FAQ). CMS’s 2027 rule also requires benefit cards to be limited to the plan year.

Kaiser OTC login and balance

Kaiser’s OTC and healthy food balances live on the same Healthy Extras card, so one login shows both. To log in the first time:

  1. Go to mybenefitscenter.com (the official site named in Kaiser’s 2027 plan summaries).
  2. Enter the 19-digit number on the front of your card.
  3. Use your birth date (MMDDYYYY) as the activation code, then create your account.
  4. Open the My Benefits page to see each balance.

How to order Kaiser OTC items online

Sign in at mybenefitscenter.com and select the CVS Health link to shop OTC items online for home delivery. Kaiser’s member video says online OTC orders go only through CVS Health, so use that link rather than a search result. If you’d rather order by phone or ask for a paper catalog, call 1-833-524-7035 (TTY: 711). Many plans that use CVS work the same way; see CVS OTC benefits.

Where to use the Kaiser healthy food card

Kaiser says the card works at more than 70,000 participating retailers, including Kaiser Permanente pharmacies. Kaiser’s card FAQ names retailers such as Kroger, Walmart, CVS, Walgreens, Dollar General, Family Dollar and Food Lion. Store participation changes, so use the store locator in the OTC Network app before you shop. See our Walmart OTC card guide for Walmart-specific tips.

What can you buy?

Healthy food (qualifying members): Kaiser’s card FAQ lists about 20 categories, including fresh and frozen produce, lean meats, seafood, whole grains, low-fat or nonfat dairy, nuts, oils, eggs, high-fiber low-sugar cereals, beans and legumes, herbs and spices, and unsweetened bottled water.

OTC items: pain relievers, cold and allergy medicine, digestive aids, first aid supplies, oral care and vitamins. See Kaiser’s 2026 OTC item catalog, or call the number on the back of your card for a free paper catalog.

Kaiser plan summaries also list a member discount, not a covered benefit, on Mom’s Meals: “discounted pricing and free shipping.” For more on Kaiser plans, see Kaiser Permanente Medicare Advantage plans, and to compare grocery benefits across insurers, read our Medicare food allowance guide and OTC and food cards by insurer. Kaiser members can also read about using the food allowance during emergencies.
