Clever Care OTC Benefits 2027: Flex Allowance, Card and Stores
Reviewed October 25, 2026. Clever Care OTC benefits come as part of a quarterly Health & Wellness Flex Allowance, not a separate OTC allowance. For 2027, Clever Care Health Plan’s Southern California Medicare Advantage plans load $95 to $610 a quarter onto the Flex Benefits Mastercard, depending on the plan, and you can spend it on OTC items, fitness, herbal supplements, dental, vision and hearing costs.
Quick answer: In 2027, Longevity (HMO) gives $330 a quarter, Value (HMO) $95, Total+ and Breathe+ $610, and the new Total Choice+ and Breathe Select+ $310. Unused money rolls over to the next quarter and expires December 31. Members who qualify for extra benefits for chronic conditions can also use the allowance for healthy food and produce. Clever Care’s 2027 Annual Notices of Change also show higher dental limits on these three plans, for example $1,100 to $1,250 every six months on Longevity, and eyewear changes to one combined limit for all eyewear.
What the Clever Care flex allowance covers
Clever Care’s 2027 Annual Notice of Change lists the allowance’s “combined uses: fitness, OTC, herbal supplements, dental, vision, and hearing expenses.” In practice that means you can use the same card for:
- OTC items from the plan’s OTC catalog
- Herbal supplements
- Fitness, such as a gym, golf, table tennis, tai chi or yoga
- Dental, vision and hearing expenses

Healthy food for members with chronic conditions
Members who qualify for Special Supplemental Benefits for the Chronically Ill (SSBCI) “may use the combined allowance towards healthy food and produce.” The Summary of Benefits says groceries are available only if the plan and your primary care doctor confirm a qualifying chronic condition, and tobacco and alcohol are excluded. Clever Care’s 2027 Enrollment Guide says the SSBCI form is faxed to (657) 220-8227. Total Choice+ is for members with diabetes, chronic heart failure or a qualifying cardiovascular disorder, and Breathe Select+ is for members with asthma, chronic bronchitis, emphysema or COPD.

Clever Care says the Flex Benefits Mastercard works “at over 3,500 participating locations across Southern California.” Its grocery locations page lists stores including Albertsons, Aldi, Costco, CVS, 99 Ranch Market, Dollar General, Food 4 Less, Northgate, Ralphs, Rite Aid, Superior Grocers, Trader Joe’s, Vons, Walgreens, Walmart, Sam’s Club and Cardenas.
