SCAN OTC 2027: FlexEssentials Card, Catalog and How to Order Online
Reviewed October 20, 2026. SCAN Health Plan’s OTC benefit is called FlexEssentials, and it comes on a SCAN FlexEssentials card. In most SCAN Medicare Advantage plans you use it at CVS stores or order online or by phone for home delivery; for 2026 that meant cvs.com/benefits or 1-844-428-8135. For 2027, the amounts in the SCAN plans we checked are lower than in 2026, and the within-year rollover is gone.
Quick answer: To order SCAN OTC items online, sign in through your plan’s OTC ordering site (for 2026 plans, CVS at cvs.com/benefits) with your FlexEssentials card. SCAN’s 2027 Summaries of Benefits say the OTC allowance is used “in-store at CVS retailers or home delivery,” except SCAN’s Costco and Walmart plans, which use their partner stores. How much you get depends on your plan: for example, SCAN Classic (HMO) in Ventura County gives $50 per quarter in 2027. Benefits vary by plan and county, so check your plan’s Evidence of Coverage.

SCAN OTC amounts by plan: 2026 vs 2027
SCAN publishes a separate Summary of Benefits for each plan. These examples show how much the allowance can differ:

SCAN Costco and SCAN Walmart plans for 2027
SCAN added two co-branded plan families for 2027, and both use FlexEssentials:
- SCAN Costco Medicare Advantage (HMO): SCAN’s October 1, 2026 announcement lists FlexEssentials “Between $115-$125 per quarter” in 17 California counties (including Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, Sacramento, San Francisco and Santa Clara) and in Clark and Nye counties, Nevada (SCAN and Costco announcement).
- SCAN Walmart plans: Walmart’s October 7, 2026 release lists SCAN Walmart Health Advantage (HMO) with FlexEssentials of “Up to $780 annually” and SCAN Walmart Medicare Complete (HMO C-SNP) with “$2,400 annually,” for OTC items and healthy foods, in parts of Texas (Houston area and Bexar County) and Arizona (Maricopa, Pima and Pinal counties). “Quarterly limits may apply” (Walmart).
If you join one of these plans, follow the ordering instructions in your 2027 welcome kit, since the stores and ordering site can differ from SCAN’s CVS-based plans.
How to order SCAN OTC online
- Find your card and plan details. Your FlexEssentials card and Evidence of Coverage show your allowance and how often it renews.
- Go to the ordering site. For 2026 SCAN plans, that’s cvs.com/benefits. Create an account with your card or member information. For 2027, use the site printed in your 2027 plan materials or on your card.
- Shop the catalog. Add approved items up to your available balance. Some items are limited, such as one per year by home delivery.
- Check out. Approved items ship to your home.
You can also order by phone (1-844-428-8135, TTY 711, for 2026 CVS orders) or shop in person at a CVS Pharmacy, where you pay with the FlexEssentials card at the register.
SCAN OTC catalog: what can you buy?
SCAN’s 2026 catalog groups items into categories such as:
- Pain relievers, cold and allergy medicine
- Vitamins and supplements
- First aid, oral hygiene, and eye and ear care
- Home diagnostics such as blood pressure monitors
- Reading glasses and sun care
- Nicotine replacement and adult care products
- Household items, and grocery and snack items on plans that include them

- In store: a CVS cashier can tell you the remaining balance after a purchase.

Should OTC benefits decide your 2027 SCAN plan?
An OTC allowance is one part of a plan. Before you choose a 2027 plan during Open Enrollment, October 15 to December 7, 2026, also compare the network, drug costs, premium and out-of-pocket maximum. SCAN Classic, for example, offers an optional dental buy-up for $55 a month in 2027.
