Where Can I Use My UnitedHealthcare OTC Card? Stores and Online (2027)
Reviewed October 29, 2026. You can use your UnitedHealthcare OTC card, the UCard, at participating stores and online through the UCard Hub. UnitedHealthcare says the card works at “more than 70,000 participating retail locations nationwide,” including Walmart, Walgreens, Dollar General and Target, and you can also order eligible items on your member site or in the UnitedHealthcare app. Participating stores can change, so check the store finder in the UCard Hub before you shop.
Quick answer: Swipe your UCard, or scan the digital UCard barcode in the UnitedHealthcare app, at a participating store’s checkout; only eligible items come off your OTC credit. Online, shop the UCard Hub. For 2027, a new Mastercard UCard arrives before January; use your current card through December 31, 2026.

Where can I use my UnitedHealthcare OTC card?
| Where | What UnitedHealthcare says |
|---|---|
| Participating stores | More than 70,000 participating locations, including Walmart, Walgreens, Dollar General, Target and neighborhood stores |
| UCard Hub (online) | Order eligible OTC items on your member site or in the UnitedHealthcare app |
| Walmart.com | The UCard FAQ says you can use it for eligible items “sold and shipped by Walmart” by entering your card number at checkout |
| Walmart MoneyCenter | Pay eligible utility bills, if your plan includes utilities and you’re verified |
Not every location of a chain may participate, and other chains appear in the store finder depending on your area. For store-by-store details, see what stores accept the UnitedHealthcare OTC card and does Target accept OTC cards.
How to use the UCard in a store
- Check your balance in the UCard Hub or the UnitedHealthcare app before you go.
- Scan items with the app’s product scanner to see whether they’re covered.
- Pay with the UCard first by swiping the card or scanning the digital barcode. Eligible items are paid from your credit.
- Pay the rest another way. Items that aren’t eligible, or amounts above your balance, need another payment method.
How to use the UCard online
Sign in to your UnitedHealthcare member site or app, open the UCard Hub, and search the OTC catalog by category, brand or price. UnitedHealthcare says shipping terms and minimum order requirements may vary by plan. Our UHC OTC catalog 2027 guide walks through ordering step by step.
What you can and can’t buy
The OTC credit covers eligible over-the-counter health items, such as allergy and sinus products, cold and flu remedies, pain relievers, vitamins and supplements, and first aid supplies. Healthy food and utility bills are covered only if your plan includes them and you have a verified qualifying chronic condition. The credit isn’t cash: you can’t withdraw it at an ATM, and items outside your plan’s list won’t be approved at checkout.
UCard changes for 2027
- New Mastercard UCard: UnitedHealthcare says the enhanced card adds security and works with Mastercard, plus a separate member ID card for your health plan.
- Timing: both cards arrive before January 2027 in separate mailings. Keep using your current UCard through December 31, 2026, then activate the new one.
- Verification for food and utilities: needed to spend credits on those items, and plan-specific, so you’re re-verified if you change carriers.
- Federal rules: from January 1, 2027, CMS requires benefit cards to be linked in real time to plan-covered items and limited to the plan year.
- Amounts vary: some 2027 plans raised, cut or dropped OTC credits. Check your 2027 Summary of Benefits during Open Enrollment, October 15 to December 7, 2026.

Frequently asked questions
Can I use my UnitedHealthcare OTC card at CVS?
UnitedHealthcare’s current pages name Walmart, Walgreens, Dollar General and Target, not CVS. Check the store finder in the UCard Hub for participating stores near you.
Can I use my UCard online at Amazon?
UnitedHealthcare doesn’t list Amazon. Online, use the UCard Hub; the UCard FAQ also mentions Walmart.com for eligible items sold and shipped by Walmart.
Can I buy groceries with my UnitedHealthcare OTC card?
Only if your plan includes a healthy food credit and your chronic condition has been verified. See our UnitedHealthcare healthy food card guide.
Does unused OTC money roll over?
Usually not. UnitedHealthcare says these benefits have expiration timeframes; monthly D-SNP credits expire at the end of each month. Check your Evidence of Coverage.
How do I check my UnitedHealthcare OTC balance?
Open the UCard Hub on your member site or in the UnitedHealthcare app, or call the number on your UCard. Earned rewards carry over to a new UCard, but OTC credits expire on your plan’s schedule.
How much is the UnitedHealthcare OTC card for 2027?
It depends on the plan. Examples include $45 a quarter on AARP Medicare Advantage FL-0006, $195 a quarter on AARP Medicare Advantage FG-0001 and $89 a month on Dual Complete TX-Q8. Some 2027 plans have no OTC credit.
Why was my UCard declined?
Common reasons are an item that isn’t eligible, a store that doesn’t participate, a used-up balance, or a card that hasn’t been activated. Check in the app or call the number on your card.
