Quick answer: Sign in to your UnitedHealthcare member account or the UnitedHealthcare app, open the UCard Hub and browse the OTC catalog by category, brand or price. Credits load monthly or quarterly depending on your plan, and unused OTC credit expires on a schedule set by your plan. The 2027 catalog and benefit amounts will be in your plan’s 2027 documents; check your Annual Notice of Change this fall.
How to find the UnitedHealthcare OTC catalog
- Sign in to your UnitedHealthcare Medicare member site or the UnitedHealthcare app.
- Open the UCard Hub. UnitedHealthcare says members can “access the UCard Hub through your member site or app to search products by category, brand, or price.”
- Check your balance and the dates your OTC credit resets or expires.
- Shop online from the catalog, or use the catalog to plan an in-store trip.
- Need a printed catalog or help ordering by phone? Call the member services number on the back of your UCard or member ID card.

Be cautious with websites that offer a downloadable “UHC OTC catalog PDF” that doesn’t come from UnitedHealthcare. Older or third-party lists may not match your plan, and you should never give your member ID or card number to a site that isn’t UnitedHealthcare’s.
What can you buy with the UnitedHealthcare OTC credit?
UnitedHealthcare lists these common OTC categories:
- Allergy and sinus products
- Cold and flu remedies
- Pain relievers
- Vitamins and supplements
- First aid supplies
- Other health and wellness items in your plan’s catalog
Some plans also load credit for healthy food and utility bills. UnitedHealthcare notes that, starting in 2026, verification of a qualifying chronic condition is required to use credits on healthy food and utilities. Learn more in our UnitedHealthcare healthy food benefit card guide.
Where you can use your UCard
| Shopping option | How it works |
|---|---|
| In store | UnitedHealthcare says the UCard works at 65,000+ participating locations. Swipe it like a debit card or scan the digital UCard barcode in the UnitedHealthcare app |
| Online | Order eligible items through the UCard Hub on your member site or app |
| Utility bills | If your plan includes utilities, you can pay eligible bills in store at a Walmart MoneyCenter |
Store participation can change, so confirm in the UCard Hub before you shop. For store-by-store details, see what stores accept the UnitedHealthcare OTC card, does Target accept the UnitedHealthcare OTC card and where to use your UnitedHealthcare OTC card.
How OTC credits load and expire
- Loading: credits are added monthly or quarterly, depending on your plan type.
- Expiration: UnitedHealthcare says “OTC, food and utility benefits have expiration timeframes.” In many plans unused credit doesn’t roll over past the period, so check your plan’s rules.
- Not cash: the credit can only be used for eligible items and can’t be withdrawn.
Who gets the UnitedHealthcare OTC benefit?
The OTC credit is a supplemental benefit offered by some UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage plans and Dual Special Needs Plans (D-SNPs). Original Medicare doesn’t include an OTC allowance, and not every UnitedHealthcare plan has one. Amounts differ by plan and county. Our Medicare OTC cards explained guide covers how these benefits work across carriers.
Ads promising a large “Medicare OTC card” or “flex card” for everyone are misleading. These allowances come only with specific private plans. See the truth about Medicare flex cards.
Changing plans for 2027
If the OTC benefit is important to you, compare it before you choose a plan for next year:
- Read your Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) for 2027 changes to the OTC, food or utility allowance.
- Compare plans on Medicare.gov’s Plan Finder during Open Enrollment, October 15 to December 7, 2026, for coverage starting January 1, 2027.
- Don’t pick a plan for the OTC card alone. Check doctors, drugs, premiums and the out-of-pocket maximum first. Our annual Medicare plan review checklist can help.
