AARP Medicare Supplement Plans 2027: Plan F, Plan G and Costs
Updated October 12, 2026. AARP Medicare Supplement plans are Medigap policies insured by UnitedHealthcare Insurance Company and sold to AARP members. The lineup includes Plans A, B, G, K, L and N, plus Plans C and F for people who were eligible for Medicare before January 1, 2020. Plan F pays your Part A and Part B deductibles, and Plan G covers everything Plan F does except the Part B deductible ($283 in 2026).
Quick answer: You need an AARP membership to enroll (non-members can join for $20 a year). Benefits for each plan letter are set by federal law, so an AARP Plan G covers the same things as any other Plan G; the price and the company differ. AARP Medicare Supplement plans don’t include drug coverage, so most people add a Part D plan. AARP-branded Medicare Advantage plans are a different product, also from UnitedHealthcare.

AARP Medicare Supplement Plan F benefits
Plan F is the most complete Medigap plan. After Medicare pays its share, Plan F pays the rest of your Medicare-approved costs, including:
- The Part A hospital deductible ($1,736 per benefit period in 2026)
- The Part B deductible ($283 in 2026)
- Part A coinsurance and hospital costs, plus 365 extra hospital days
- Part B coinsurance and Part B excess charges
- Skilled nursing facility coinsurance
- 80% of foreign travel emergency care, up to plan limits
The catch: Medicare.gov says Plans C and F are no longer available to people new to Medicare on or after January 1, 2020. If you were eligible before then, you can still apply, though you may face medical questions outside your Medigap Open Enrollment Period. Read more in Medicare Plan F supplement.
Does AARP Plan G cover the Medicare deductible?
Plan G covers the Part A deductible but not the Part B deductible. In 2026, you pay the first $283 of Part B costs each year; after that, Plan G pays your Medicare-approved Part B coinsurance and excess charges. CMS hasn’t published the 2027 Part B deductible yet. A high-deductible Plan G, where sold, has a $2,950 deductible in 2026 and $3,050 in 2027. Compare options in What is High Deductible Plan G? and Plan G vs. Plan N.

How much do AARP supplemental insurance plans cost?
Prices depend on your state, ZIP code, age, sex, tobacco use and the plan letter. AARP Medicare Supplement rates aren’t the same nationwide, so get a quote for your ZIP code. UnitedHealthcare’s plan pages mention an enrollment discount, and its plan guides describe household and multi-insured discounts in some states. The amounts vary by state, so ask for them in writing. We don’t publish sample prices because they change by location and over time.
When to apply
Your Medigap Open Enrollment Period is the 6 months that start the month you’re 65 or older and enrolled in Part B. During that window you can buy any Medigap plan sold in your state without health questions. After it, insurers can use medical underwriting unless you have a guaranteed issue right, such as losing employer coverage (usually a 63-day window). Before you sign up, use our Part B sign-up guide.
