Humana Medicaid OTC Benefits: Amounts by State and How to Order
Reviewed October 24, 2026. Humana Medicaid OTC benefits give Humana Healthy Horizons members a quarterly allowance for over-the-counter health and wellness products, such as pain relievers, cold medicine, diaper rash cream and first aid supplies, at no cost. In most states Humana counts it per household, not per person. For 2026 it’s $65 a quarter in Florida, up to $65 in South Carolina and Virginia, $75 in Louisiana and up to $30 in Oklahoma. Orders usually go through CenterWell Pharmacy by phone, mail or fax, and unused money doesn’t roll over.
Quick answer: Find your state’s Humana Healthy Horizons OTC catalog and order form, then call CenterWell Pharmacy (800-526-1490 in Florida; 855-211-8370 in Louisiana and South Carolina) or mail or fax the form. Keep each order at or under your quarterly limit and order before the last week of the quarter. These are 2026 amounts; Humana hadn’t posted 2027 Medicaid catalogs at this review.

What the Humana Medicaid OTC benefit covers
Humana’s state pages describe the allowance as a way for households to buy products that support common conditions, including:
- Pain relievers
- Diaper rash cream
- Cough and cold relief medicine
- First aid equipment and supplies that don’t require a prescription
- Feminine products (listed by Humana in Virginia)
The 2026 South Carolina catalog groups items into categories such as baby and kids, bathroom safety, cough, cold and allergy, diabetes management, digestive health, first aid, incontinence, pain relievers, personal care, skin care, vitamins and supplements, women’s health and smoking cessation. Humana’s Louisiana page says catalog items are generic versions of brand-name medicines that match them in dosage and effectiveness.
What it doesn’t cover
The South Carolina catalog lists these as not eligible: alternative medicines such as botanicals, herbals and probiotics; convenience items; cosmetics; food supplements; and replacement items and accessories, such as hearing aid batteries that aren’t packaged with the original item. For the general rules, see our list of what you can get with an OTC card.
How to order Humana Medicaid OTC products
- Get your state’s catalog and order form. Humana posts them on each state’s Humana Healthy Horizons benefits or pharmacy page.
- Choose items up to your limit. Florida’s form says each household can buy up to $65 per quarter; orders over the limit may be partly filled or late.
- Place the order. Call CenterWell Pharmacy, or mail or fax only the order form pages.
- Watch the deadline. Place your order by the last week of your allowance period. Florida’s form says you can order only for the current or a future month, not a past one.
- Wait for delivery. Shipping is free. South Carolina’s catalog says to allow 5 to 7 working days; Louisiana’s page says 10 to 14 working days.

Rules and limits to know
- No rollover: Humana’s Oklahoma and Virginia pages say unused amounts don’t roll over to the next quarter.
- Per household: In Florida, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Virginia, Humana describes the allowance as per household, so the limit applies to the whole household rather than to each person.
- For the member: South Carolina’s catalog says items can be mailed only to the enrollee, not ordered for friends or relatives.
- Item limits: Some items are limited to one per plan year (such as blood pressure monitors in South Carolina) or two per month.
- Age rules: Products with dextromethorphan can’t be sold to members under 18, and nicotine products can’t be sold to members under 21.
- No returns: Properly dispensed items can’t be returned for a refund.
Medicaid OTC medicines with a prescription
Separate from the allowance, Medicaid pharmacy benefits cover some OTC medicines when a provider writes an order for them. Humana’s Louisiana page says it covers “certain over-the-counter (OTC) medications with a written order from a Humana Healthy Horizons provider,” and in Ohio, OTC medicines that are Medicaid-covered and medically necessary go through the state’s single pharmacy benefit manager, Gainwell. Ask your doctor to send a prescription if you need an OTC medicine regularly.
Humana Medicaid OTC vs. Humana Medicare OTC
If you have Medicare too, your benefits may come from a Humana Medicare Advantage or dual special needs plan instead. Those plans use different catalogs and cards, such as the Healthy Options Allowance and the Humana Spending Account Card. See our Humana OTC catalog 2027 guide, the Humana Spending Account Card and how the Humana grocery allowance works.
What about 2027?
Medicaid extra benefits are set in each state’s contract and can change. At this review, the catalogs Humana posted were for 2026. Look for a new catalog in your member mailings or on your state’s Humana Healthy Horizons page before January 2027, and call Member Services if you’re not sure which amount applies. For an overview of Humana’s Medicaid plans and states, see Humana Healthy Horizons. Other Medicaid plans have similar benefits; see Sunshine Health OTC benefits in Florida.
