Aetna OTC Benefits 2027: CVS Ordering, Catalog and the Extra Benefits Card

Aetna OTC benefits let members of many Aetna Medicare Advantage plans buy over-the-counter health items through CVS: in CVS stores, online at CVS.com/Aetna, or by phone at 1-844-428-8147. For 2027, Aetna says, “Many Aetna plans include an OTC benefit powered by CVS Flex Benefits,” and “All C-SNP and D-SNP members get a monthly allowance on an Extra Benefits Card” for certain OTC products. Amounts vary by plan, from $15 a quarter to $93 a month in the 2027 plans we checked.
Quick answer: Check the “Over-the-counter (OTC)” row of your 2027 Summary of Benefits for your amount and how often it renews. Most plans put it on the Aetna Medicare Extra Benefits Card, which you activate and check at CVS.com/Aetna, in the app, or at 1-844-428-8147 (TTY 711). Unused OTC money doesn’t carry over to the next benefit period.
What’s new for Aetna OTC in 2027
CVS Health’s October 2026 announcement of Aetna’s 2027 Medicare plans says the OTC benefit and the Extra Benefits Card are now “powered by CVS Flex Benefits™” (2026 materials used the name CVS OTC Health Solutions). Members with a qualifying chronic condition can also use their allowance for certain groceries, personal care products, transportation and utilities. The Aetna Medicare Extra Benefits Card wallets
Aetna’s card can hold one or more “wallets,” depending on your plan (Aetna: Extra Benefits Card):

Not every plan includes the card. Keep your card from year to year: CVS tells members, “Don’t throw away your Aetna® Medicare Extra Benefits Card! You can use it for next year, too.” The money doesn’t carry over, only the card.

Catalog rules worth knowing (2026 catalog):
- There’s no limit on the number of orders, as long as you stay within your allowance.
- Some items are limited, for example to one per year.
- Dual-purpose items may need a conversation with your provider first.
- Allowances “do not roll over into the next benefit period or next plan year.”

New 2027 rules for benefit cards
CMS’s 2027 Medicare Advantage rule codifies requirements for supplemental benefit debit cards and requires that they “be limited to the specific plan year.” (CMS: CY 2027 final rule) So spend 2026 money by December 31, 2026.
