What Can You Buy With a Humana OTC Card? 2027 Eligible Items List

With a Humana OTC benefit you can buy eligible over-the-counter health items for yourself: pain relievers, cough, cold and allergy medicine, vitamins, first aid supplies, diabetes supplies, incontinence products, personal care, skin care, bathroom safety items and more. You can’t use it for baby items, cosmetics, contraceptives, regular soap or shampoo, laundry detergent, or anything for family members. Whether you order from Humana’s catalog or shop with a card, and how much you get, depends on your 2027 plan.

Quick answer: Humana lists its eligible OTC items in 17 categories, from Bathroom Safety to Women’s Health. Mail-order plans let you order them through CenterWell Pharmacy online, in the app, by phone at 855-211-8370 (TTY 711) or by mail. Allowance plans load the money onto the Humana Spending Account Card for use at participating stores. Groceries, utilities and rent are separate. They’re only available through the Healthy Options Allowance, and only for members who meet the plan’s chronic-condition rules.

How the Humana OTC benefit works in 2027

Humana says that, depending on the plan, members “may be eligible to receive a monthly or quarterly amount to spend on eligible over-the-counter (OTC) items.” Your plan uses one of two formats:

• OTC Mail Order: you choose items from Humana’s OTC catalog and CenterWell Pharmacy ships them to you.
• OTC Allowance: the money is loaded onto the Humana Spending Account Card, a prepaid card you use at participating retailers or through the plan’s mail-order vendor.

The card keeps its name in 2027. Humana’s 2027 Healthy Options Allowance policy says “you get money each month on a prepaid debit card called the Humana Spending Account Card.” “Healthy Options Allowance” is the name of the benefit, not a separate card. What items can be purchased with a Humana OTC card?

Humana’s most recent Medicare Advantage OTC catalog, for 2026, groups eligible items into these categories. Humana hadn’t posted a 2027 Medicare Advantage catalog as of October 30, 2026, so check your 2027 catalog when it arrives.

Humana’s own pages give examples such as “vitamins, pain medicine and first aid supplies” and “oral care products.” The exact products and brands depend on your plan’s catalog. What you can’t buy with a Humana OTC benefit

Humana’s catalog says “Items not covered under this OTC benefit (non-eligible items) include baby items, contraceptives, cosmetics,” and it also lists:

• Protein or energy bars and honey
• Non-medicated soap or shampoo, laundry detergent and shaving items
• Homeopathic products and insoles
• Items for anyone else: “It is prohibited to purchase OTC items for family members and friends.”

Can I buy groceries with my Humana OTC card?

Not with the OTC benefit alone. Groceries come from the Healthy Options Allowance, which some plans load onto the same Spending Account Card. Humana lists “approved produce, beverages, dairy, meat and seafood,” plus utilities, rent and mortgage, for members who qualify. Humana’s 2027 policy requires at least two eligible chronic conditions on non-SNP plans and one on D-SNPs and C-SNPs. Humana OTC amounts: 2027 plan examples

OTC amounts and formats vary by plan and county. These come from Humana’s 2027 Summaries of Benefits:

Unused amounts expire at the end of the plan year or when you leave the plan. Your plan’s Evidence of Coverage has the final rules. Humana’s Medicaid plans have their own catalogs. The 2027 Humana Healthy Horizons in Illinois catalog, for example, offers $65 in OTC items per household, per quarter.

How to order Humana OTC items

1. Online: sign in at CenterWellPharmacy.com and choose “Over-the-Counter (OTC) items” under “Shop OTC & Supplies,” or use the CenterWell Pharmacy app.
2. Phone: call CenterWell Pharmacy at 855-211-8370 (TTY 711), Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Eastern.
3. Mail: send the catalog order form to CenterWell Pharmacy, P.O. Box 1197, Cincinnati, OH 45201-1197.
4. Order by the deadline: monthly plans by the 20th of each month; quarterly plans by the 20th of March, June, September and December.

Humana says to “Allow 5 to 7 business days for processing from the time CenterWell Pharmacy receives your order,” and CenterWell may limit quantities.
