Wellcare Vision 2027: Eye Exams, Glasses Allowance and Providers

Updated November 4, 2026

Reviewed November 4, 2026. Most Wellcare Medicare Advantage plans include routine vision care: a yearly routine eye exam and, on many plans, a dollar amount you can put toward glasses or contact lenses. To find a Wellcare vision provider near you, use Wellcare’s Find a Provider tool or call the vision number on the back of your Wellcare Member ID card. You use your regular Member ID card at the eye doctor; there’s no separate vision card.

Quick answer: In the 2027 Wellcare plans we checked, the routine eye exam is $0 once a year in network and the eyewear allowance is $100 to $200 a year for glasses or contacts combined. Some plans also include hearing aids, with allowances of $750 to $1,500 per ear. Benefits vary by plan and county, so check your plan’s 2027 Summary of Benefits or Evidence of Coverage before you enroll during Open Enrollment (October 15 to December 7, 2026).

How Wellcare vision works in 2027

Routine vision is a supplemental benefit, an extra that Wellcare adds on top of Original Medicare. Wellcare’s vision benefit page (last updated October 1, 2026) describes it this way:

Wellcare vision 2027: plan examples

These amounts come from Wellcare’s 2027 plan documents. They show how much the benefit can differ from one plan to the next:

Wellcare Simple (HMO-POS) H1032-213, Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties, FL$0, 1 per yearUp to $100 a year, contacts and glasses combined

2026 vs 2027: Wellcare Meridian Health Dual Access (Michigan)

This Michigan dual-eligible plan, called Wellcare Dual Access until January 1, 2027, shows why it pays to read your Annual Notice of Change. Its 2027 ANOC lists these changes:

Benefit20262027
Eyewear allowance (glasses and contacts combined)Up to $400 a yearUp to $200 a year
Hearing aidsUp to $1,500 per ear, 2 aids a yearUp to $750 per ear, 2 aids a year
Out-of-pocket maximum$9,250$9,850

If you’re already a Wellcare member, your own ANOC (mailed before October 1) lists any change to your plan’s vision and hearing benefits for 2027.

How to find a Wellcare vision provider near me

  1. Open Wellcare’s provider search at wellcarefindaprovider.com, which Wellcare links from its vision benefit page.
  2. Choose your state and your 2027 plan, then search for eye care providers near your ZIP code.
  3. Or call the vision number listed on the back of your Member ID card. Wellcare says that line takes calls from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday.
  4. Call the office before you book and confirm it takes your specific Wellcare plan for routine vision.

Wellcare’s 2027 Summaries of Benefits and plan pages that we checked don’t name a vision vendor, and Wellcare notes that vendor networks can change from year to year. Your Evidence of Coverage names the vendor for your plan. Using an in-network provider matters: on the Missouri PPO above, an out-of-network routine exam costs 40% coinsurance instead of $0.

Wellcare hearing aids and hearing exams

Many Wellcare plans pair vision with a hearing benefit. Wellcare’s hearing page says to contact your “hearing vendor, which can be found in your Evidence of Coverage.” In the 2027 plans we checked:

Original Medicare doesn’t cover hearing aids or routine hearing exams for fitting them, which is why this benefit can be worth a lot. (Wellcare: Hearing benefit)

Does Wellcare sell vision insurance on its own?

We found no official Wellcare page offering stand-alone vision insurance. Centene, Wellcare’s parent company, lists Wellcare’s Medicare products as Medicare Advantage plans in 32 states and stand-alone Part D drug plans, with vision, dental and hearing as extra benefits inside Medicare Advantage. (Centene) So for most people, “Wellcare vision insurance” means the vision benefit in a Wellcare Medicare Advantage plan. A Wellcare Value Script drug plan doesn’t include vision.

What Original Medicare covers for eye care

Every Wellcare Medicare Advantage plan must cover at least what Original Medicare covers. Medicare Part B doesn’t pay for routine eye exams for glasses or contacts, but it does cover a yearly diabetic eye exam, glaucoma tests for people at high risk, and one pair of glasses or contacts after cataract surgery with an implanted lens. How to compare Wellcare vision benefits for 2027

  1. Find the vision and hearing rows in each plan’s 2027 Summary of Benefits: exam copay, eyewear allowance and hearing aid allowance.
  2. Check your eye doctor in Wellcare’s provider search for that plan.
  3. Check the Spendables amount. Some plans let you use it for vision costs, and the Florida plan above includes $94 a month.
  4. Weigh the bigger costs first: doctors, drugs, premium and the out-of-pocket maximum.
  5. Enroll by December 7, 2026 for coverage starting January 1, 2027.
