Does Amazon Accept OTC Cards? How to Use OTC Benefits on Amazon

Updated October 5, 2026

Reviewed October 5, 2026. Yes, Amazon accepts some OTC cards. Amazon says it accepts “certain OTC Network cards” from Medicare Advantage and Medicaid health plans. If the back of your OTC benefits card shows the OTC Network logo, you can add it to your Amazon Wallet, shop items marked “OTC Benefits card eligible” and pay with your plan allowance at checkout. Cards that don’t run on the OTC Network generally can’t be used on Amazon.

Quick answer: Check the back of your card for the OTC Network logo, then add the card plus a backup payment method to your Amazon Wallet. At checkout, Amazon charges eligible items to your OTC card and anything else to your backup card. You can also see your OTC balance at checkout.

How to use your OTC card on Amazon

Amazon describes three steps (Amazon OTC Benefits):

  1. Add your card to Amazon Wallet. Add your OTC Network benefits card, and keep a backup payment method such as a credit or debit card on file.
  2. Find eligible items. Look for products with the “OTC Benefits card eligible” badge.
  3. Check out. Amazon says eligible items “will be purchased using your OTC Network benefits card and ineligible items will be purchased using your backup payment option.”

To check your balance, select an eligible item, go to checkout and choose “Check coverage and balances.” Amazon shows your overall balance and the balance for each benefit type your plan provides. Shipping coverage depends on your program and appears automatically at checkout.

Which OTC cards work on Amazon?

Amazon lists more than 30 participating health plans, including Aetna, MetroPlusHealth and Tufts Health Plan, but the key test is the OTC Network logo on your card. Examples from plans we’ve reviewed:

What you can buy on Amazon with an OTC card

Only items marked “OTC Benefits card eligible” that your plan covers. These typically include pain relievers, cold and allergy medicine, vitamins, first-aid supplies and dental care items. If your plan includes other allowances, such as healthy food, Amazon shows separate balances for each benefit type at checkout. Items your plan doesn’t cover go to your backup payment method.
