Walmart OTC Card: How to Use OTC Benefits at Walmart
Reviewed October 5, 2026. Walmart accepts OTC benefit cards from many Medicare Advantage and Medicaid plans, in stores and on Walmart.com. Walmart describes an OTC benefits card as “a supplemental benefit card given to members of select Medicare Advantage programs by their insurance company” for over-the-counter products, personal care items and sometimes healthy food. Online, you add the card to your Walmart Wallet and shop items with a “Benefit program eligible” badge; in stores, you can scan items in the Walmart app to see the same badge.
Quick answer: Whether your card works at Walmart depends on your health plan. Plans that list Walmart include Healthfirst, EmblemHealth and Molina’s Ohio MyCare plan, among others. Check your plan’s store list or card instructions, then use the Walmart app or Walmart.com to confirm which items are eligible.

How to use an OTC card at Walmart
Online or in the Walmart app
- Add your card in your Walmart account: Account, then Settings, Wallet, Add new payment method, Benefit card.
- Search for items and filter by your benefits program, or browse Walmart’s OTC Shop.
- Look for the “Benefit program eligible” badge.
- Add items to your cart and check out. Walmart says the card applies automatically to covered products.
In store
- Scan an item’s barcode with the Walmart app or an in-store scanner to see whether it shows the “Benefit program eligible” badge.
- Pay with your OTC card at checkout. Use another payment method for anything that isn’t covered.

Walmart’s benefits shopping features
In May 2025, Walmart announced tools that let Medicare Advantage members add benefit cards at Walmart.com/wallet, see eligibility badges on thousands of OTC, food and wellness products, filter search results and track spending. Walmart said it launched first with NationsBenefits and is expanding to more health plans and benefits managers. It also said customers can mix eligible items with other merchandise in one order for pickup or delivery (Walmart, May 28, 2025).
